Diy broomstick8/17/2023 ![]() I cut the ring part off, spray painted with my favorite RustOleum metallic silver paint, and finished them with a coat of silver glitter. Those are actually spider rings from Oriental Trading. That’s all there is to it! If you want to add some extra bling to your table (and why wouldn’t you?!) then you could glue a glittered spider to the end of your utensils as I have shown below. You could use twine if you like but I found washi tape to be easier and quicker. I’ll post the full party next week but today I am sharing this Halloween Party Witches Broom Napkin DIY.Īll you need to make this witch broom napkin is…įold the napkin over but not quite to the edge and accordion fold the whole length of the napkin. Put a little pressure on the folds to make them more crisp. Lay your straw in the middle and then gather the top around the straw. A cat? Where’s the challenge in that?! Try as I might I could not convince my willful four year old to let me sew up a storm and turn her into “Disgust.” Still feeling the need to be crafty in some way I decided to put together Good Little Witches Halloween tea party for her and some friends. I used to make really elaborate costumes for myself and then when I had kids I started make costumes just for them. This year I thought I was going to be able to go all out for my daughter and make her a fabulous “Disgust” from “Inside Out” costume but my littlest love pulled a fast one on me and insists on being a cat. Wrap ribbon around the shaft of the broom handle.Attach the broom handle if your brooms came unassembled.Allow the paint and sealer time to dry completely. It is still glittery, but not as glittery. ![]() If I had left the glitter paint it as is without the sealer these would have been the glitteriest, shiniest, most sparkliest brooms you had ever seen! But, I was worried about the glitter dropping off at some point, so I sealed the broom bristles. Spray the sides of the broom bristles if you did not cover them yet.Turn broom over, and spray the other side, wait 20 minutes until dry.I used Krylon Orange Burst on one broom and Krylon Grape Glitz on a second broom. Shake the Krylon Glitter Blast for 2 minutes, then, with long even strokes, spray the bristles of the broom. If spraying outdoors, spray over the grass. Cover the ground with cardboard, and up the sides. Place the straw end of your broom in a well ventilated area.If your brooms come unassembled, do not assemble before painting.I also used the Grape Glitz for my purple broom, and the glitter sealing spray. In the end, I did go with the Krylon Glitter Blast because I could get orange. ![]() So now how to color the bamboo in the broomstick? Well, with glitter spray paint, of course! I had to decide between Rust-Oleum Glitter Spray and Krylon Glitter Blast. The reviews for both were underwhelming, the Krylon having some spectacularly bad stories. ![]() In comments, see the photo where Karrie made tall brooms from cinnamon brooms!.If all else fails, you can make your own cobweb broom!.Check your local Amish or Mennonite store.Check Alibaba – they had a few that “could” work, along with the newer-type cobweb brooms that definitely will not work. Here are a few spots I found online that sell cobweb brooms, besom broom, or witch’s brooms: Update: It is now eight years later, and Smith Brothers no longer exists (well, not the place I bought from). Eventually, I found these awesome cobweb brooms at Smith Brothers for $14.99 each! Sold!
